Marjorie "Ruth" Gray

November 16, 1924 — March 23, 2016

Marjorie Ruth (Hunt) Gray was born on November 16, 1924 to Frank Abraham and Lillie Pearl Hunt in Shell Rock, Iowa. She graduated from Shell Rock High School and Iowa State Teacher College, Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Ruth worked as an elementary grade school teacher at Luther, Iowa Springdale, Iowa, Monticello, Iowa. She held a Citizen’s Radio Station License to help with her husband’s veterinary practice.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Gray on June 16, 1947. To this union four children were born.

Ruth was a member of the Galva United Methodist Women, Galva United Methodist Choir, a blood drive volunteer, Serpaci Auto Club, Motor Ioway Particiant and Galva Music Mothers.

Survivors include her; children, Jane (Roger) Ingledue of Spencer, IA, Anne (Keith) Collett of Chapman, KS, Beth (Mike) Biedenfeld of Manson, IA, and Tom (Sandy) Gray of Holstein, IA. Ruth is also survived by her grandchildren, Mary Beth (Rachel) Leistad, Laura Leistad, Joseph Smallwood, 1st Lieut. Hank (Sara) Collett, Lucy Collett, Caroline Collett, Beatrice Biedenfeld (Justin Klein), Thomas Biedenfeld (Emily Harmon), Julianna Biedenfeld, Tristan (Cory) Kitch, Kailee Gray (Dr. Steve Meek); and great-grandchildren, Grayson, Gillian, Michael Sullivan “Sulley” and Mallory Kitch; sister-in-law, Leona; and many other family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Gray; parents; siblings, Florence, Genevieve, Mildred, Lyle, Jean and Phoebe.
