Marlene Joyce Jorgensen

Marlene J. Jorgensen, age 90, of Galva, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center of Las Vegas.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein with the Pastor Kristin D. Boysen officiating. Burial will be at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery of Galva.  A visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.

Marlene Joyce Jorgensen was born September 4, 1932 to Ralph and Hazel (Goodrich) Fairly.  After graduating from Sanborn High School  she attended Morningside College earning a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.  Marlene went on to teach first and second grades in Holstein for 43 years.

She was united in marriage to Vern Jorgensen on December 21, 1963.  To this union one son was born, Kevin. They made their home in Galva where they lived for sixty years.

Marlene enjoyed gardening, caring for her chickens and fishing.  She was a member of the Galva United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW, the civic club, American Legion Auxiliary and she helped deliver Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Jorgensen of Galva, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Vern Jorgensen.
