Marvis L. Frahm

July 7, 1925 — June 28, 2014

Marvis Frahm was born July 7, 1925 in Lismore, Minnesota to parents Mildred and Robert Madison. At the age of 5 her parents moved the family to Correctionville, Iowa where Marvis resided for the rest of her life.

Marvis attended the Correctionville Public School and graduated in 1942. After graduation she taught in a rural schoolhouse for 2 years. On August 7, 1944 she married Eldred(Bud) Frahm, who at the time was serving in the US Marine Corps. For a short time, Marvis lived in California where Bud was stationed prior to his deployment overseas, and also in North Carolina where he was stationed after being wounded on Iwo Jima.

Upon the couples return to Correctionville, Marvis worked in a local grocery store, as a secretary for the Chas D. Isbell Agency, and later as a Secretary/Receptionist at the Florence Crittendon Home in Sioux City, Iowa. She also attended Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City where she received a diploma for completing the Clerical Practices Program.

Marvis was active in the Evangelical United Brethren Church as a Sunday school teacher and pianist for the Sunday morning services, and she was a member of the Methodist church after the two churches merged. She had a great love of music and spent many evenings playing music together with Bud; she on the piano and he on harmonica.

She also was an avid reader and great fan of crossword puzzles.

Marvis loved being around family and friends. She always looked forward to getting together with friends at the local café for Saturday morning coffee and to catch up on local events. She also kept in touch by mail and by phone with her siblings and family members, and especially enjoyed visits by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marvis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud after 58 years of marriage; brothers, Robert and James Madison and sisters, Doris Ashmore and Bethel Wollman.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Charles) Milligan; son, Mark (Connie) Frahm; grandchildren, Valerie (Thaine) Kister, Clinton Milligan, Ashley (Justin) Skaden, Erin (Tony) Salmon, and Katelyn Frahm and great-grandchildren, Austin and Aubrey Skaden, Camren, Abby, and Landon Salmon, Brody and Brileigh Frahm-Joel.
