Mary L. Goettsch was born May 9, 1934 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Virgil and Edna (Ogelsby) Thornhill. She grew up in Storm Lake and Ida Grove, Iowa. She graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1952.
She was united in marriage to Myron Kolpin in 1952. To this union three children were born. They lived in the Galva area and later divorced.
Mary owned the Mary’s Beauty Inn in Galva until moving to Carroll in 1974 to own Ed-Mar’s Western Corral. Mary then moved to Sacramento, CA where she was the office manager of a tax office. In 1989 she moved back to Iowa and later married Murlen Goettsch on July 1, 1995.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed doing crafts and playing cards.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Murlen; son, Rick; brother, Ed and granddaughter, Morgan.
Mary is survived by her children, Ronny (Karla) Kolpin of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Robin and Kandi Kolpin of Spirit Lake, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Chris Kolpin of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Jason (Adonna) Kolpin, Thomas (Michelle) Kolpin, William Rand, Michael (Christy) Kolpin, Jorden Kolpin (James Dolmage), Kye (Brynn) Kolpin, Quinn Kolpin (Alaina Cranston); 11 great-grandchildren and three more on-the-way; sisters, Jeannie and Elsie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
