Mary Ellen Miller

Mary Ellen Miller, age 97, passed away May 25, 2024 at the Kingsley Specialty Care of Kingsley. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church of Climbing Hill with the Pastor David Schoop officiating. Burial will be at the Westfork Township Cemetery of Climbing Hill. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville. Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Ellen (Michael) Miller was born May 27, 1926 in Adair, Oklahoma to Raymond R. And Blanche (Joyner) Michael.  She graduated from Danbury High School.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Miller on March 3, 1944. To this union seven children were born. The family made their home in the Moville area.  Mary Ellen cared for many children in the community running a daycare until she was 80 years old.

Mary Ellen was an avid sewer, gifting each family member a quilt. She also loved to garden, bake and enjoyed hosting each holiday, especially Christmas Eve.  She was an active member and volunteer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Climbing Hill.

She is survived by her children, Coleen Miller Wingert, Ronald R. (Cathy Lant) Miller, Bonnie (Doug) Hansen, Patti Miller Bryan, Carolynn (Jeff) Locke and Cindy (Gordon) Ingebritson and Renae Miller (Rod) Hopp of Forest City, IA; 25 grandchildren, Debbie, Tammie, Mark, David, Dawn, Kristine, Ron Jr., Heather, Michelle, Hollie, Matthew, Jason, Jessica, Justin, Joshua, Joel, James, Andrew, Shawn, Nicolas, Natasha, Katie, Mitchell and Broderick; 58 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; two son-in-laws, Alan Wingert and Joel Bryan; and one grandson, Brandon Bryan.
