Merrill was born on June 30, 1942 to Edgar and Viola (Vohs) Zobel in Ida Grove, Iowa. He worked as a truck driver.
Merrill enjoyed going to auctions, camping and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul Scott; great-grandson, Lathen Lawrence and his ex-wife, Janice Zobel.
Merrill is survived by his daughters, Mary and Mark Vogt of Galva, Amy Zobel of Holstein, Karen Grashorn of Atlantic and Holly Cedeno and John Madsen of Holstein; grandchildren, Travis Vogt of Galva, Kayla and Brent Rohlk of Fairmont, MN, Kelsey Vogt and Taylor Ironshell of Galva, Kris Grashorn of Atlantic, Alex Grashorn of Atlantic, and Nic and Kaylee Cedeno of Holstein; great-grandchildren, Reid Vogt and Kynleigh Rohlk; brothers, Allen and Chrys Zobel of Audobon, IA, and Robert and Cheryl Zobel of Sioux City, IA; sister, JoAnn Segovia of Winona, MN; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial:
Merrill E. Zobel, age 71, of Kiron, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing and Rehab Center of Cherokee.
Funeral:
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church of Galva with the Rev. Paul D. Egger officiating.
Burial:
Burial will be at the Memory Gardens Cemetery of Cherokee with military rites conducted by the American Legion Dessel-Schmidt Post #225 of Holstein. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the church.
