Nick was born on November 29, 1978 in Sioux City, Iowa to David and Patsy (Conover) Mathers. Nick lived in the Correctionville area for almost all of his life. He graduated from River Valley High School in 1997. After high school, Nick worked for UPS out of Kansas City and Des Moines for a brief time before returning to Correctionville to work with the family business, Mathers Construction Company. In his spare time, Nick’s interests included paintball, computers, hockey, motorcycles, and most importantly, his faithful dog, Bullet. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Forrest Nicklas Conover and uncles Steven Mathers and Donald Dixon. Left to cherish his memories are his parents, David and Patsy of Correctionville, IA; brother, Matt (Jeni) Mathers of Des Moines, IA; sister, Marlo (Jered) Jepsen of Cushing, IA; grandparents, Wayne Mathers of Kingsley, IA, Norma Mathers of Correctionville, IA and Emma Jean Schwarz of Ida Grove, IA; nephews and nieces, Trey, Jacie, Collin, Lauren, Madelyn and Cory; his special friends, Meghan List and daughter Evalee of Hospers, IA; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Visitation:
There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
