Norma Ann Jeanette Groepper Hansen was born on October 15, 1918 in Holstein, Iowa. She was the youngest child of William Groepper and Anna (Ericksen) Groepper. Norma attended grade school at a country school south of Holstein and graduated from Holstein High School in 1936. Norma married Lyle Hansen on December 24, 1938. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage before he passed away in July of 1993. They had three children: Judy, June and Lynn.
She was a homemaker and especially enjoyed baking and sewing. She was a life member of United Methodist Women and active in her church circles. She was a charter member of the Douglas Homemakers and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed playing cards, visiting on the phone, going to luncheons with her many friends and getting together with her high school classmates at reunion parties. She and Lyle also like traveling in their motor home.
In November of 2005, Norma moved to Char-Mac and enjoyed her 2 ½ years there. In May 2008 she moved to Valley, Nebraska to Valaven Golden Living Center where she resided until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Bert Loof; granddaughter, Nicole Hansen; and her sisters and brothers: Olga Carstens, Annetta Meyer, Lester Groepper and Erwin Groepper.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Spencer (Elbert) of Cheyenne, WY, and June Miller (Steven) of Mitchelleville, IA; son, Lynn Hansen (Sherry) of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, Duane Spencer (Seena) of Buffalo, WY, Jeff Spencer (Debbie) of Clackamas, OR, Laura Roth (Charlie) of Council Bluffs, IA, Brian Loof (Jen) of Duluth, MN, Annemarie Kregel (L’Dean) of Champagin, IL and Chad Hansen (Catherine) of Olathe, KS. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Wilma Hansen of Wayne, NE; and 17 nieces and nephews.
