Norman was born to Ardea and Albert Lewison on December 17, 1932. He was raised in Sioux Rapids, Iowa along with his three brothers, Ronald, Richard and Philip. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Norman was active in 4-H and enjoyed showing his cattle. Upon graduating from high school, he attended South Dakota State in Brookings where he earned a degree in animal husbandry. After college he spent two years in the Army, stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, MO and Fort Riley, KS.
Norman was married to Judith Altizer for 26 years, and to this union three children were born: James, Barb and Linda. He farmed and raised hogs for several years, as well as working for many years at IBP where he retired. He has resided in Sloan, Sioux City and Correctionville.
Norman enjoyed volunteering at the Sioux City Welcome Center, following the Iowa Hawkeyes, and he always had his camera ready to take pictures. He also enjoyed going to the many Munoz family gatherings and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He actively attended Salem Lutheran Church until his health prevented him from attending.
He resided in Sioux City with the late Norma Cook, his special friend of 20+ years. He gained many additional family members with her children, Randy and Karen and their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with Norma to visit them and other family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; brothers, Richard and Ronald Lewison; and his special friend, Norma Cook.
Norman is survived by his son, James Lewison of Columbus, OH; daughters, Barb Lewison of Des Moines, IA and Linda and Pablo Munoz of Correctionville, IA; and grandchildren, Paul, Alyssa and Erik.
