Patsy Lee Phillips was born in Horatio, Arkansas on October 1, 1924 to Nicholas Marion Phillips and Viva Jean (Pevehouse) Phillips. She received her schooling in Hot Springs, Arkansas and it was there Patsy married Chester Olson on February 13, 1945. The couple then moved to Mapleton, Iowa after his discharge from the Army and took up faming until 1959, when due to Chester’s health, they moved to Sioux City. Chester died in 1983. Patsy later married Arles A. Andersen, Sr. on October 1, 1987. They made Alta their home and were involved in farming until Arles passed in 1989.
Patsy was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood, the Royal Neighbors of America, the American Business Women of Sioux City, an active and dedicated member of the VFW Auxiliary, a classy and stylish member of the Red Hat Ladies, and a frequent visitor to the “boat.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jean and Archie (Al) Shelby; a niece, Carolyn Sue Shelby and a nephew, Sidney Michael Shelby.
Survivors include a niece, Sandy (Mark) Simpson of The Colony, Texas and their children, Angela (Michael) Spiewak and Stephanie Simpson; her children, Austin, Madison, Tanner, Parker and Peyton. Stepchildren include Douglas Andersen of South Sioux City, Marsha Black, Paul Andersen, and Ruth Ann of Sioux City, and Arles Andersen Jr. of Des Moines.
