Phyllis J. Kabisch, age 91, of Washta, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Correctionville Specialty Care of Correctionville. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Washta United Methodist Church of Washta with Pastor Barb Dinelli officiating. Burial will be at Correctionville Cemetery of Correctionville. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville.
Phyllis June Kabisch was born on June 13, 1927 to Howard and Gudrun (Erickson) Thomson in LeMars, Iowa. She graduated from Grand Meadow High School then continued her education at National Business Training. She worked as a legal secretary until she was married.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Marvin Kabisch on March 8, 1847. To this union five children were born. Phyllis and Marvin enjoyed traveling and they spent several winters in Arizona. She was a member of the Washta United Methodist Church where she served on the UMW. She enjoyed dancing, playing golf and cards, reading and crocheting and working in the yard. Most of all, Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, William Kabisch of Washta, IA, Beverly (Bob) Arkfeld of Defiance, IA, Mary George of Cedar Falls, IA, James (Ranae) Kabisch of Willmar, MN, Kenneth Kabisch of Independence, MO; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Marvin and her parents.
Memorials may be directed to the Washta United Methodist Church or the Washta Public Library.
