Randy B. Carpenter, age 64, of Holstein, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center of Omaha, NE. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein with Jan Brandhorst officiating. Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Dessel-Schmidt Post #225 of Holstein. The family would like all individuals attending the funeral service to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines.
Randy Breton Carpenter was born February 13, 1956 in Des Moines, IA to Everett B. and Mary (Breton) Carpenter. He was a graduate of East High School in Des Moines, then earned a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology at Iowa State University. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1974 and served for nine years. During his service he monitored the Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty of 1963.
Randy was united in marriage to Pamela Jean Trail on December 30, 1974 in Holstein, IA. To this union three children were born. Randy worked at V.T. Industries for approximately 31 years.
Randy enjoyed military history, time spent with family and friends, gardening and vacationing. He was a man who never met a stranger. Randy loved his God, family, country and pets. He was a member of the American Legion Dessel-Schmidt Post #225 and the Horn Memorial Hospital Board. When his sons were young, Randy was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife, Pam of Holstein, IA; daughter, Kristen Mott and husband Jason of Peoria, IL; sons, Brett Carpenter and wife Kristy of Council Bluffs, IA and Scott Carpenter and wife Belinda of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren, Amari, Sofia and Camille Carpenter, Carter and Kellen Mott, and Maxwell Carpenter. He is also survived by brothers, Ronald Carpenter and wife Kathy of Newton, IA, Robert Carpenter and wife Susan of El Dorado, KS sisters, Lorna Davros of Des Moines, IA and Lisa Carpenter of Des Moines, IA; sisters-in-law, Gail Trail of Maxwell, IA and Machelle Trail of Des Moines, IA; his beloved dogs, Gilda and Dolly; and many pets, friends and extended family.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Mary and parents-in-law, Marda Jean and Max Trail.
