Bobbi was born July 10, 1934, to Robert J.H. Badger Sr. and Mildred Juanita (Trimble) Badger in Montezuma, Iowa. She was the valedictorian of the Class of 1952 at Montezuma High School.
Bobbi earned her Bachelor of Science in “experimental cookery” at Iowa State College. In her later years, she often credited her education in helping her to survive Type 1 diabetes for over 47 years. While attending college, she met her future husband, Roger Linn. They were married Oct. 6, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Montezuma.
Roger taught high school science in Pleasantville and Lake Park, Iowa, before they returned to Correctionville to farm and teach near his parents. Bobbi supported the farming endeavor while managing their home as they raised their four children, David, Jan (Swinton), Phred, and Ron.
Bobbi enjoyed the company of friends and family. She always welcomed visitors into her home and was able to feed a crowd on short notice. She had close friendships, especially with childhood friend Norma (McNeil) Williamson and neighbor Darlene Roepke. Bobbi was an active member of the Pierson United Methodist Church for many years, and later the Correctionville Church of Christ. She volunteered, was a member of the UMW, the Good Hope Club, Woodbury County Republican Party, and the Kingsley Garden Club. Bobbi taught her daughter and grandchildren to cook, sew, make floral arrangements, garden, and play pinochle. They loved spending time with her.
Roger and Bobbi enjoyed vacationing in their cabin in northern Minnesota every summer, visiting friends and relatives along the way. They spent more than 10 years researching and writing "The Clan Linn in the Twentieth Century", a family history book detailing the 1788 immigration of Hugh Linn from County Down, Ireland, to Pennsylvania. The book, published in 1991, chronicles the westward movement of the Linn descendants and includes anecdotes from many branches of the family tree.
Survivors include her sister Juanita Lovick of Washington, IA and brother John Badger and his wife Cindia of Des Moines, IA; her sons: David, Phred and his wife Jayne, and Ron, of Correctionville; a daughter Jan Swinton, of Fairfield, Iowa; grandchildren: Sara, Ben, Zoe and Isaac Linn, Anna (Linn) and her husband Mark Vestweber, and Nathan Swinton and his wife Sarah, Sam, Aaron and Hannah Swinton; an honorary son, Garry Fowler and his wife JoAnn and their daughter Katie of Kansas; and great-grandchildren: Cayleigh, Josh, and Maggie Swinton. Also surviving her are Roger’s brothers and their wives: Joe and Wanda Linn, Roy and Linda Linn, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 50 years, Roger Linn, who passed away on August 11, 2007.
The family was blessed with the ability to care for Bobbi in her own home, a challenge made much easier with the help of Hospice of Siouxland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hospice of Siouxland.
