Ronald M. Hoops

Ronald Marvin Hoops was born on March 15, 1941 to Marvin and Lillian (Gebers) Hoops in Aurelia, Iowa. He was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alta. Ronald attended a country school near Holstein. He also attended Galva and St. John’s in Hanover and graduated from Alta High School in 1959. Upon graduation, he joined the Army National Guard and was in the Reserves.

Ron was united in marriage to Linda Sandine on November 10, 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta. They are the proud parents of Brian and Reas.

He started his lifelong farming and truck driving occupation after he graduated from high school. Ron enjoyed drag racing, tractor pulling, riding motorcycles, coaching his son’s baseball teams and attending his children and grandchildren’s activities. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Alta and served at the church in many capacities.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hoops of Alta, IA; sons, Brian (Jen Kerns) of Storm Lake, IA and Springfield, MO, and Reas Hoops of Alta, IA; grandchildren, Tanner and Brayden of Storm Lake, IA and Rita and Sawyer of Springfield, MO; sisters, Shirley (Lynn) Johnson of Alta, IA and Donna Hoops of Storm Lake, IA; brother, Vernon (Liz Foreman) Hoops of LeMars, IA; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and friends.
