Roxie was the first-born child of Frank and Lenore (Healess) Diamond on March 21, 1917 in rural Anthon, Iowa. She graduated from Anthon High School in 1934 and on September 27, 1936, she married Cecil A. Slater. They lived in Correctionville, Iowa until 1972 when they moved to Glendale, Arizona. She returned to Correctionville in June of 2012 and resided at Valley Lodge Assisted Living until November 4, 2013 when she entered the nursing home.
Roxie was an over 50 year member of the Methodist Church and an over 50 year member of the Eastern Star.
Roxie loved to travel; she traveled the United States, Canada, and the world. Her favorite places were Ireland, England, Scotland, and New Zealand. She also loved to dance and play cards, especially cribbage and bingo. She especially loved her family, as they were the most important thing to her.
Roxie was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; brothers, Frank and Don Diamond; a sister, Marilyn Reed; as well as a granddaughter, Mary E. Mahin and great-great-grandson, Ethan A. Mahin.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacquelyn Mahin and Wyma (Tom) Henrichsen of Correctionville; one son, Frank of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter; a brother, Ralph (Delores) Diamond of Anthon, Iowa; a sister Dorothy Chinn of Pierson, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
