Ruby L. King, age 87, of Correctionville, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Correctionville Specialty Care of Correctionville. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 01, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Grace United Methodist Church of Correctionville with the Rev. Marv D. Siems officiating. Burial will be at the Correctionville Cemetery of Correctionville. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville.
Ruby was born on February 10, 1930 to Henry and Cassie (Adamson) Todd in Correctionville, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Everett “Cappy” King on June 15, 1951. To this union six children were born. The couple was blessed to be married for 63 years.
Ruby was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Correctionville. She worked at Copeland Park, Beall and Buckley and the Colonial Nursing Home. Ruby enjoyed spending time with her family, especially spoiling the little ones, and cooking for her family and friends including communion bread for the church for many years. She also enjoyed all kinds of gardening, bird watching and listening to her scanner.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Fritz) Wigand of Correctionville, Lynn “Bim" (Marie) King of Correctionville, Lori King of Correctionville, Lynette (Bryan) Shever of Cushing, Lisa (Mike) Sorensen of Battle Creek, and Lorna (Tom) Brockmann of Hoskins, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Leonard and Wilbur; and sister Pearl Riordan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett “Cappy” King; grandsons, Aaron Shever and Justin King; brothers, Fred, Lloyd, Henry, Loren and John; and sisters Hanna Sands and Florence Evans and baby Wilma.
