Selma “Sally” Christine Margaretha (Frahm) Radke was born November 5, 1920 on a farm near Cushing, Iowa the daughter of Claus and Annie (Clausen) Frahm. She was baptized at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein and became a communicant member at St. John Lutheran in Cushing. She attended the Cushing School system.
Sally worked at home and as a nanny until she was united in marriage to Ralph Radke at St. John Lutheran Church in Cushing, Iowa on January 26, 1947. To this union four children were born: Dennis, Jacquelyn, James and David.
Sally farmed with her husband Ralph northeast of Galva until 1983 when they moved to Storm Lake, Iowa. In 1993, they moved to their home in Galva. Sally was a member of Ladies Aid at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galva for 51 years. She was also a member of the Galva Country Club for many years. In 2007, Sally and Ralph were honored to be elected to serve as king and queen for Galva’s 125th anniversary celebration.
Sally enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, family get-togethers and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph of 68 years; children Dennis Radke of Cherokee, IA, Jacquelyn (Raymond) Franz of Schaller, IA, James (Kathryn) Radke of Clarion, IA, David (Janda) Radke of Galva, IA; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Dick) Christiansen of Newell, IA; a brother, James Frahm of Marshalltown, IA; a sister-in-law, Joann Frahm of Galva, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents; a sister LaVina; and brothers, Arnold Frahm, Robert Frahm and Roger Frahm.
