On the evening of January 21, 2016, Sherry Marie Fischer (61) passed away peacefully in her sleep due to natural causes. Sherry was born in the town of Walla Walla, in Washington on October 13th, 1954. She was the second child and first daughter to Jeanne White.
Sherry was raised in Walla Walla, Washington and Pierce, Idaho where she graduated from Timberline High School with an amazing beehive hairstyle. She had her first child, Stephanie Warner, who was adopted by her Aunt and Uncle. As a young woman, she joined the Navy and saw many places, including Guam, where she married Bradley J. Fischer, and had two children. After her divorce and leaving the Navy, she raised her children, Skye Phillips and Bradley Fischer, Jr., in her hometown of Pierce for ten years. She worked many odd jobs, some of which include work in the fields of: child care, logging, lifeguarding and wildlife convservation. During this time, her children were half feral, spending most of their time outside fishing and swimming, while Sherry read novels and waited for them to bring her the raspberries they picked while wandering. They had a few pets during this decade, including three cats, named Ariel, Irish and Snowflake and three dogs, named Wolf, Yukon and Chocolate.
In 2001, Sherry moved to Storm Lake, Iowa and found her true home. She worked at MarketLink for fourteen years in Quality Assurance. She also worked for a short time as an Associate at Walmart. In Iowa, Sherry became a devoted friend to multiple people in her town, taking care of them and loving them with an open heart. She was beloved by her friends and their families. They enjoyed going to shows together weekly. She especially enjoyed Star Wars, Episode VII: The Force Awakens. She continued her love of reading and writing, participating in online fanfiction groups for two series: The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward and Midnight Breed Rising by Lara Adrian. She was the admin in the Midnight Breed Rising group and sent gifts to the other writers and fans who participated in the page to encourage them. Sherry was a great lover of paranormal romance fiction novels and science fiction television and movies.
Sherry was proceded in death by her mother, Jeanne White.
Sherry is survived by her siblings, Raleigh Minard, Terry Hamilton and Scott Minard, and her children, Stephanie Warner, Skye Phillips and Bradley Fischer, Jr.
There will be no service for Sherry. Her wish, to be cremated and her ashes spread in the ocean, will be realized by her son, Bradley, and the assistance of the United States Navy. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local library or any literary charity of your choice. If you wish to honor Sherry’s memory, read a book, write a short story or watch some scifi and think of her. She’d love it.
