Wayne "Haystack" Schoer

Wayne “Haystack” Schoer, age 71, of Holstein, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021.  A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein with Pastor Bob Lewis officiating. Burial will be held at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein.  A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.

Wayne W. “Haystack” Schoer was born on December 7, 1949 to Henry and Gladys (Ell) Schoer in Cherokee, Iowa.  He graduated from Holstein High School, then earned an Associates Degree from Iowa State.

Haystack was united in marriage to Marlo Johnson on July 20, 1974 in Holstein, Iowa.  To this union three children were born, Jacob, Joshua and Melissa.  They made their home in Holstein.  He held many jobs through the years, Conover and Bauer Oil Co., Bagenstos Food Locker, farming, Gomaco and his pride and joy,  S + S Sales.

Haystack was an Allis Chalmers enthusiast and collector.   He was the guy that everyone could count on and he would help anyone in need.  He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Holstein.

Wayne is survived by his wife Marlo; sons, Jacob Schoer of Ames, IA and Joshua Schoer of Holstein, IA; daughter, Melissa (Noah) Ebert of Quimby, IA; siblings, Denise, Tim and Teresa, all of Ida Grove, IA, Diane (Mitch) Sabin of LeMars, IA, Travis Schoer of Holstein, IA; sister-in-law, Peg Schoer of Marshalltown, IA and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gladys; parents-in-law, Willis and Marian Johnson; and brother, Brad Schoer.
