Wilbert H. Vohs

Wilbert H. Vohs was born September 15, 1922 in Ida County on a farm northeast of Holstein to Herbert and Viola (Stofferahn) Vohs. He attended country school and graduated from Holstein High School in 1941. Will worked for several farmers and the Art Meyer dairy. On October 6, 1943, he was united in marriage to Frieda Volkert. To this union two sons were born, Kenneth and Rodney. Will entered the U.S. Army in March 1944 and served with the 6th Armored of the 3rd Army in France. He received an Honorable Discharge from Bushell General hospital in Utah in 1945. They started farming in 1946 southeast of Holstein until retirement in 1989. Will was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was baptized on December 22, 1922 and confirmed April 19, 1938. He was a 60 year member of the American Legion Dessel-Schmidt Post #225 of Holstein. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching Western movies on television and playing cards with friends. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was interested in their accomplishments. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glenn Vohs and wife Martha; nephews, Ronald Samuelson, Gary Samuelson, Roger Samuelson and Craig Volkert; brothers-in-law, Alvin Volkert, Paul Volkert and Loren Hahn. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frieda of Holstein; two sons, Kenneth (Jane) of Forest Lake, MN and Rodney of Austin, TX; six grandchildren, Dr. Kathleen Vohs of Minneapolis, MN, Elizabeth Vohs of Minneapolis, MN, Andrew (Amy) Vohs of Chanhassen, MN, Jennifer Vohs of Minneapolis, MN, Justin (Joan) Vohs of Austin, TX, Jacob Vohs of Austin, TX; three great-grandhildren, Alex, Lauren and Oliver Vohs, all of Chanhassen, MN; and brother, Burdell (Helen) Vohs of Battle Creek, IA; sisters-in-law, Wanda Samuelson (Paul) of Aurelia, Carolyn Young (James) of Galva, Janet Hahn of Aurelia, Erma Volkert of Quimby and Barb Volkert of Cherokee and many nieces and nephews. In Lieu of Flowers Memorials and Gifts May Be Made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church



Burial:
Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein with military rites conducted by the American Legion Dessel-Schmidt Post #225 of Holstein.
